At Western Cultured we love math, so it's no surprise we celebrate Pi Day. But today isn't just any Pi Day, it's extra special because pi rounded to the fourth decimal is 3.1416. In honor of this delectable day, we're bringing you four of our favorite Seattle pie shops and their cannabis pairings.
A La Mode Pies: A La Mode Pies is a Phinney Ridge favorite. One of their best sellers, the Blue Hawaiian, combines pineapple, coconut and blueberries. We think it pairs well with our Island Lavender. We also love A La Mode's Star-Spangled Sour Cherry (featured) for a patriotic mouthful of sour cherries, almonds and flaky crust. For extra sour, add our SeaTown Lemon Haze before chowing down. A La Mode Pies is Located on Phinney Avenue and 59th, and open daily from 8 AM to 9 PM.
Dahlia Bakery: If you're serious about pies, you must visit Dahlia Bakery, a Tom Douglas restaurant. Their famous Triple Coconut Cream Pie is a perfect treat after our Dutch Treat. It's not too rich with the right amount of coconut flavor. Dahlia Bakery is located on 4th in Belltown between Lenora and Virginia Streets.
Pie Bar: What is really good after four martinis on Capitol Hill with girlfriends? Pie Bar. This award-winning bakery lounge is open until 2 AM and offers a twist to the menu with their "Pie-tinis." Our pie pick is their Desserted Island, packed with strawberries, raspberries, marionberries, Granny Smith apples and streusel. Chef Lyss Lewis suggests pairing it with Pie Bar's Burning Apron (Amaretto, Crater Lake Hazelnut Liqueur, Rum and Coffee). We suggest taking it to the next level with Cascade Connie. Pie Bar is located at 1361 E Olive Way and does allow customers of all ages.
Piroshky Piroshky: Piroshky isn't your typical pie. It's a traditional Russian handheld pie filled with sweet or savory fillings. Piroshky Piroshky is world famous for its made-from-scratch and hand-molded pies. Don't believe us? Read their 3400 Yelp reviews. We love Piroshky Piroshky's Cream Cheese Vatrushka and our Perma Frost, or their Smoked Salmon Pate followed by a pre-roll of 9LB Hammer. Piroshky Piroshky opened over twenty years ago, and is open daily from 8 AM to 6 PM.
